Oh the Times We Had at Winter OR!

Hayter Comm hustled the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market trade show floor this January touring over 60 journalists through four clients' booths to show them new product hitting stores in 2016. At Pendleton, journalists checked out stylishly designed outerwear cut from the finest materials—fleece, wool, and more, much of which harkened prints from the brand’s notable blankets. Pendleton also showcased its National Parks collection, created to celebrate the Parks’ centennial anniversary this year. At Superfeet, journalists were fitted in the brand’s new insoles, FLEX, an easy-to-wear insole that won’t break the bank at $29.99. Larger news from the brand included the launch into footwear with their debut Outside sandal—a sporty, good-looking flip-flop with all of the support and comfort Superfeet is known for. Cascade Designs highlighted the new Platypus Meta Bottle: a partially food-grade silicone bottle that is soft enough to collapse down when not in use but strong enough to stand on its own when full. Bonus: it’s also available with a protozoa- and bacteria-killing filter. The Hayter Comm tour was crowned off at the Helly Hansen booth, where journalists were introduced to the burly Ullr Elevation Shell (built for freeriding), a softshell and a midlayer lined with moisture-wicking LIFA, a stunning midlayer featuring H2Flow technology worthy of a full-page photograph, and some snazzy new winterized sneakers, and more. On Friday night, at the show, Hayter Comm hosted nearly 40 journalists and over 20 marketing people at Traeger Grills' headquarters in the Sugar House neighborhood of Salt Lake City. After being transported by party buses—complete with dance tunes and moonshine—journalists entered the building to find High West Distillery pouring whiskey-fueled cocktails. Long, family-style tables wrapped in Kraft paper lined the event space, adorned with candles and wood slabs for hot skillets, while the on-staff chef served up Traeger-smoked oxtail over polenta, chicken breast, street tacos and more from the open kitchen. Multiple brands sponsored the dinner, including Beartooth Technology, Cascade Designs, Superfeet, Helly Hansen, Pakpod, and Duluth Pack and they were able to mingle with the journalists and enjoy a dinner that will be hard to top at future Outdoor Retailers.
